How to make it

During this lesson we will create an animation of the steam engine train. Train will be moving forward, it’s wheels will rotate and it will be a smoke going from the tube.

• Open new file. Make the stage 300X600 px
• We will start from creating a separate parts of the steam engine. The first thing we are going to do – it’s a tube.
• Create a drawing of it – make it as big as you want – as we are working with a vector graphics we always can make it smaller later.
• Select drawings and hit F8 to encapsulate them into the Graphic symbol. Give it a name like grTube
• Now most important part. Select the symbol and press F8 once more. Now select Movie behavior. Yes you are doing symbol from symbol. The sequence is critical – it should be Graphic symbol ready and they you select it and make Movie symbol.

Now if you double click it you will see in the bar at the top of the stage panel the following sequence Scene1-mvTube-grTube. If you double click the graphic symbol you may edit drawings inside it. Open the Library – you will see two symbols there - grTube an mvTube – they have different icons and “Kind”

You just created your first movie symbol and you can animate it independently from the timeline.
